"Making the world a meaner place for you and your children" Fm: Sec. Devil To: Operative Child, Wired Re: Protocol Violation Warning Operative Child: As I read your latest message, my lips pulled back from my teeth in a grim rictus and I felt my tail curl up between my hind legs. While we in Pack Ops are not unsympathetic to your need for expression, it is my sad duty to remind you that you have broken several of the standard by-laws of the Messaging Protocol. [excerpt of first part of message] Date: Tuesday, January 17, 1995 10:01am /Hello From: wired child Msg#: 236353 To: ** ALL ** Re: On Fantasy (1 reply) There are those who live their dreams, but few are those who dream their lives. [end excerpt] Any message, whatever its literary worth or cosmic import, MUST follow these standards or we will soon return to the days of Yang. As you have been a most consistent member in the past, with a long and illustrious contribution record, I can only assume this is a mistake, a slip-up, the slightest of blemishes on an otherwise exemplary record. I hope I am correct, as IMHO you are a fine pack member. However, the Pack does not stop for the weak or sick, and the rules apply to all with fur and fangs. These are our laws. In case you do not have your copy of the Wolfen Hotline Handbook available, I have catalogued the following offenses: 1) Posting a message of more than 20 lines in length at any time except between the hours of 4:00 pm to 2:00 am, when the maximum number of impressionable users will receive the message as one of the last three in their forum scan. Ordinarily this rule is not enforced, but it's kind of like getting caught speeding, or some other relatively meaningless analogy. 2) Since the body of your message is philosophical, there is little room for fact, rumors, and innuendo. You have therefore failed to include one parcel of incorrect, misquoted, or misleading data. This will not do. 3) As you are well aware, Addendum 2 to the Messaging Protocol states that a message more than one screen in length must contain at least ONE of the following: a) Prejudicial epithets such as "juve" or "GoM" b) Slamming of new users for poor quoting or message style c) Derogatory after-signature postscript d) Protestation of suggestions of Pack existence e) Inside jargon or jokes non-Club members would not get f) Mention of Admin failures re: Internet, Planets, etc. g) Second-guessing of Admin or Forum-Ops Your post, most likely through accidental ommision, contains NONE. 4) The forum session/message packet this post was part of did not contain even one line furthering the '94-'95 Pack Objectives, namely: a) Dissemination of lies and misinformation about GoM b) Driving of all beta-test Blessed Accounts from TCE! c) Systemic Harrassment of new and novice users Ordinarily, breaking any one of these rules would be overlooked. However, my Ubergruppenwulfkinderdirectoroffen has informed me that this message breaks enough rules in a blatant measure to merit immediate action. I have convinced him to hold off until your actions can be explained, and it is my hope that with a sincere apology and a promise of future service and loyalty any punishment we might recommend, up to and including revokation of Toonces privileges, will be suspended or commuted. Thank you for your time in reviewing this communique, and I hope we can resolve this incident to the satisfaction of all parties involved as soon as possible. ================================================================== | HowlQWK 4.1 | Wolfpacken Uber Alles! ==================================================================
